PAK-IMF agreement: Govt expected to raise petroleum levy

The government of Pakistan is likely to impose additional burden on citizens by raising petroleum levy to fulfill International Monetary Fund (IMF) terms, ARY News reported on Friday, Citing sources. According to the sources, the federal government is expected to increase the petroleum levy after which the initial electricity tariff will likely to raise Rs 3 to Rs 5 per unit, adding that the gas will also become more expensive for the citizens of Pakistan. IMF Pakistan reach $3bn staff-level agreement

ISLAMABAD: International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Friday, announced that a “Stand-By Arrangement” between the global money lender with Pakistan has been reached successfully, ARY News reported. According to the details, a staff-level agreement has been concluded between Pakistan and the IMF, valuing $3 billion for 9 months. Ishaq Dar expects IMF deal in next 24 hours

LAHORE: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar said a staff-level agreement for a crucial bailout deal with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) was “very close” and expected in the next 24 hours. Pakistan is racing against time to unlock at least $1.1 billion under the lender’s ninth review of a $6.5-billion Extended Fund Facility (EFF) agreed in 2019. The programme expires on Friday. “We are very close to signing a staff-level agreement with the IMF,” minister Ishaq Dar told Reuters late on Thursday. “I think it should come some time tonight or maximum within 24 hours. Pakistan EU agree to intensify cooperation in fight against human trafficking

Pakistan and the European Union have agreed to intensify cooperation in the fight against human trafficking and smuggling of migrants. The understanding to this effect was reached at the 13th Pakistan-EU Joint Commission meeting in Brussels, during which views were exchanged on all areas of bilateral cooperation. ISLAMABAD: A magnitude 5.2 earthquake jolted the federal capital Islamabad and nearby areas on Thursday, ARY News reported on Thursday quoting National Seismic Monitoring Centre (NSMC). Armed men steal 84 sacrificial goats from Karachi

KARACHI: A gang of more than 12 armed individuals looted 84 sacrificial animals from a farm located near Dhabeji railway station, ARY News reported on Wednesday. The audacious criminals, who remained in the shed for approximately four hours, executed the heist, leaving the owners and employees shocked and helpless. Finance Bill: Govt hikes duty on registration of vehicles

ISLAMABAD: Federal government has hiked the excise duty on the registration of vehicles over 2000 CC in the finance bill, ARY News reported. As per details, a six percent fixed tax has been imposed on the value of 2001CC and 2500CC vehicles whereas the tax for the filers on the 2001CC and 2005CC was Rs 0.25 million. Pakistans energy shortfall exceeds 6500MW amid scorching heat

LAHORE: With heatwave-like conditions across the country, the prolonged power cuts have added to the citizens’ misery as the overall energy shortfall has surpassed 6,500 megawatts, ARY News reported on Sunday. Nawabshah: Collision between two buses leaves six dead

NAWABSHAH: At least six persons were killed and over 60 others were injured in a road accident in Sindh’s province of Shaheed Benazirabad in the wee hours of Sunday night. Fawad Chaudhrys indictment in sedition case deferred

ISLAMABAD: A district and session court in the federal capital on Saturday deferred the indictment of former information minister Fawad Chaudhry in the sedition case after he skipped today’s proceedings, ARY News reported. SBP lifts all restrictions on imports to fulfil IMF condition

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has lifted all restrictions on imports to fulfil one more condition of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), ARY News reported on Friday. The central bank issued a circular to end all restrictions on imports in order to fulfil another IMF condition. The federal government granted permission to banks for providing remittances to release more than 6,000 containers. The SBP stated in the circular that remittances will be provided for all imports after the enforcement of the latest order. KP caretaker govt approves budget 2023-24

PESHAWAR: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa caretaker Government on Tuesday approved Rs462.426 billion expenditure for four months (July 1 to October 31, 2023) and announced 35 percent adhoc relief allowance for its employees BS 1 to 16 and 30 percent from BS 17 and above and 17.5percent in pension of all pensioners. Presenting the salient features of authorized expenditure for the above four months, Adviser to the chief minister for finance and energy, Himayat Ullah Mayar here said that Rs350.041 billion was fixed as total authorized current expenditure, Rs309.498 bln for settled current expenditure, Rs40.543 bln for newly merged areas (NMA) current expenditures for the said four months, the state news agency reported.
