Death toll rises to 26 in Karachi building collapse

KARACHI: The death toll from the collapse of a five-storey Karachi residential building in Lyari Baghdadi area has climbed to 26, with rescue teams recovering more bodies from the rubble, according to rescue officials. In a tragic update from Karachi’s Lyari area, rescue teams have removed 95% of the debris from the collapsed residential building in the Baghdadi. According to Hameer Ahmed, in charge of Rescue 1122 South, one more body has been located under the rubble, believed to be that of a young man. Efforts are underway to retrieve it with extreme caution. Saeed Ghani admits officials facilitate illegal construction

KARACHI: Sindh Minister for Local Government Saeed Ghani said that 588 buildings in Karachi are deemed unsafe, with 456 of these located in the South District alone. Govt notifies 10pc salary increase for employees

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has notified a 10 percent salary increase for its employees as well as those working in the armed forces and civil armed forces, ARY News reported. The federal government in budget 2025-26 had approved the increase in salaries for government employees, while pensions were raised by 10 percent. The Ministry of Finance has issued an official notification as the decision will also apply to employees hired on contract. Additionally, the Ministry of Finance released a notification for a 30 percent disparity allowance, which will benefit those employees who were previously not granted this allowance. Both the salary hike and disparity allowance will take effect from July 1, 2025, as per the notification. Chlidren among three injured in Lahore lion attack

LAHORE: A distressing incident occurred in Lahore, where a lion attacked a family, leaving three people, including two children, injured, ARY News reported. New profit rates on saving accounts, certificates announced

The Central Directorate of National Savings revised profit rates for several investments aimed at helping individuals grow their savings with confidence over time. Special Saving Certificate, Defence Savings Certificate, Regular Income Certificate,Behbood Saving Certificate, and Shuhda Family Welfare Account are among different options provided by the Central Directorate of National Savings. ISLAMABAD: The National Emergency Operations Center (NEOC) has confirmed another polio case in Pakistan, bringing the total number of cases in the country in 2025 to 14. Govt reduces port charges to ‘boost’ exports

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Maritime Affairs on Tuesday reduced charges for export and transshipment containers through the Port Qasim Authority by 50 percent, ARY News reported. According to a notification issued here, the revised charges are in effect from July 1, 2025. The decision aims to provide ‘relief’ to the trade sector and stimulate economic growth. The reduction applies to export cargo at Port Qasim, including Marginal Wharf, FOTCO, and PIBT, where wharfage charges for export and transshipment containers have been halved.
