Pakistan win silver medal in World Beach Kabaddi Championship

Pakistan won the silver medal in the first World Beach Kabaddi Championship held in Iran. Pakistan suffered defeat in the final against the host nation, Iran.  In a thrilling final of the World Beach Kabaddi Championship, Iran secured victory by six points, with the score standing at 45-41 in favor of Iran against Pakistan. Earlier, in the semi-final held in the morning, Pakistan defeated Iraq with a score of 58-21. Dr Zakir Naik reaches Pakistan

Renowned Islamic scholar Dr. Zakir Naik Monday arrived in Islamabad on a 15-day visit, ARY News reported. Dr Naik landed at Islamabad International Airport early on Monday and was welcomed by officials from the Ministry of Religious Affairs including Syed Dr Atta ur Rehman. Karachi: 22 individuals arrested for aerial firing at Gadap farmhouse

KARACHI: Following an incident of aerial firing at a farmhouse located in Gadap area of Karachi, Sindh police raided the farmhouse and reportedly arrested all 22 individuals involved in the incident, ARY News reported on Sunday. The police raided the farmhouse after a woman from Akbar Nawazmari Goth sustained injuries from the aerial firing. As per the police spokesperson, a total of 28 modern weapons were recovered from the scene, including six shotguns, four semi-automatic rifles, four sub-machine guns, and 14 pistols. The authorities have demanded weapon licenses from the arrested individuals and found over 500 bullet shells, which will be sent for forensic examination. The police have registered a case of aerial firing and attempted murder against the 22 arrested individuals. Dow University releases MDCAT results statistic

KARACHI: Dow University has released the results statistics for the Medical and Dental College Admission Test (MDCAT), ARY News reported on Tuesday. A total of 22,366 candidates from across Sindh have passed the test, achieving a pass rate of 58.79%. The test, conducted under Dow University, witnessed the participation of 38,041 candidates. Among them, 12,572 candidates appeared at the Ojha and NED test centres. From these where, 6,947 candidates qualified for MBBS, while 7,941 candidates qualified for BDS. Previously, the University of Health Sciences had released the MDCAT 2024 results. The test for admissions to medical and dental colleges in Punjab was held on September 22, with a total of 56,519 candidates participating. Out of these, 48,051 candidates scored more than 55%, while 51,018 candidates scored more than 50%. ISLAMABAD: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Executive Board is all set to consider Pakistan’s 37-month Extended Fund Facility Arrangement (EFF) of about $7 billion today (Wednesday). Woman takes drastic step after getting high energy bills

DASKA: A 50-year-old widow ended her life by consuming poisonous pill after receiving hefty energy bills in Daska, a city in Punjab, ARY News reported. According to details, the woman named Razia received  25,000 rupees utility bills (16,000 for gas and 9,000 for electricity) that exacerbated the family’s financial struggles. Razia was falling more into poverty as her three sons were unable to find job. Power generation hits 7-Year low

Pakistan’s power generation has hit a seven-year low, experiencing a 17.4% year-over-year decline, highlighting the challenges faced by the energy sector, as the country grapples with a subdued economy and consequently, a slump in energy demand. In August 2024, power generation in Pakistan declined by 17.4% compared to August 2023, reaching 13,179 gigawatt-hours (GWh) or 17,714 megawatts (MW), according to AHL Research report. This is a significant drop compared to 15,959 GWh (21,450 MW) during the same period last year. On a month-over-month (MoM) basis, power generation witnessed a dip of 11.4%. For the first two months of the fiscal year 2025 (2MFY25), power generation fell by 8.9% year-over-year (YoY) to 28,059 GWh (18,857 MW) compared to 30,798 GWh (20,697 MW) in the same period last year. ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) has issued a detailed ruling on petitions challenging the Election Commission’s decision to change the Election Tribunal in Islamabad, ARY News reported on Thursday. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Wednesday reported another polio case as a two-year-old Quetta boy has been confirmed to be infected with the virus, ARY News reported citing the National Emergency Operation Centre (NEOC) for polio sources. TV anchor’s home robbed in Karachi

CAA likely to extend age limit for recruitment of directors

KARACHI: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) Board of Directors held its first meeting discussing the age limit for the recruitment of directors and flight inspectors, ARY News reported on Monday. ATC orders immediate release of all arrested PTI MNAs

ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) has ordered the immediate release of all arrested PTI MNAs, including Ahmad Chatta, after accepting their bail applications, ARY News reported.
